On forgetfulness and happiness.

The poetry of A.A. Milne has been coming back to me this semester unbidden, though not unwelcome. During dinner, this poem came to me:

Happiness
John had
Great Big
Waterproof
Boots on;
John had a
Great Big
Waterproof
Hat;
John had a
Great Big
Waterproof
Mackintosh --
And that
(Said John)
Is
That.

I wish I had been as prepared as John.
Today I forgot my rain jacket and walked from the BGC to the library and the library to Fischer in rain. Then I remembered my jacket for the walk to dinner, by which time the sun was shining of course.
