On the water

Like last summer, one of the highlights of this summer was a sail on Lake Michigan.

On the fourth of July, a friend from church who has a sloop took a bunch of friends out on the water. We sailed out of the Chicago harbor, took the sails down, bobbed around in the water (which was pleasantly cool, but not frigid), and sailed some more, spitting cherry pits off the side of the boat. After dark, we watched fireworks from the boat, listening to the distant boom and the pleasant lap of the water against the boat. It was idyllic. I think I had a goofy smile on my face most of the day.
