*Uh-oh*

I have a professor who likes to place *astericks* around words or phrases for *emphasis* in emails or blog posts he writes to his class or students. I'm sure it's effective. My only complaint is that it usually strips me of any *quivering self-confidence* and leaves me feeling like I can do *nothing* capably.
